In January 2023 we finally opened our brand new CHS Life Centre. The CHS Life Centre was a vision birthed out of the Church of the Holy Spirit (CHS), a local church that has been serving the communities of Kirstenhof, Capricorn and Westlake since 2001.

The vision was for a community centre to be built that would not just be open on a Sunday, but become a thriving hub that is open throughout the week. Simply put, the centre was built to bring life to our surrounding communities. For years CHS has been actively supporting community initiatives but there was a desire to do more. The CHS Life Centre will provide holistic support by impacting the seven spheres of life. You can see some of our tenants here that are providing services to our community.

The CHS Life Centre has already been busy, providing a space for the local community through gymnastics, ballet and hip-hop classes. The Centre will also be launching its community cafe called The Table, a place where locals can connect over great food and coffee. The Table is a place where everyone is welcome and will include a community wall, which will connect people to some amazing community projects happening in our community. Our desire is to see a space where we can create awareness and all come together to make a difference.

The Centre also has spaces that are available for renting for co-work space, meeting rooms and events. We have already hosted kid’s parties, weddings, sports breakfasts, book launches and nonprofit awareness evenings. We hope to host many more events in the future and invite our everyone to be involved.

We also have a counselling centre run by KS Counselling that provides relationship, trauma and adolescent professional counselling.

It is early days but we do have further plans for the following if you would like to get involved and support:

• Skills training for the unemployed

• Vegetable community garden

• Food market that offers different foods from our surrounding communities

• Outreach events at our The Table community cafe
