Growth, Blessing, Impact! Let’s Build Our Community Together
Imagine a place where hope takes root, where lives are transformed, and where God's love overflows into the community. That's the vision for our CHS Life Centre, which is a reality we have the privilege of watching as it works its way out, right in front of our eyes.
Whether through partnerships with organisations like U-turn or the incredible work happening through our CHS team, we are committed to impacting more lives and expanding the accessibility of much needed presence and provision, as far as we are mandated to take it.
The year ahead of us is an invitation and an exciting step into a new season of growth and LIFE flowing freely through the halls, walls, floors, beams, ministries, partners and most of all the people.
One thing we are so excited about for this year are all the plans, dreams and activities starting to come to life within the Ubomi Charitable Trust. We are earth-shatteringly reminded of the deep responsibility and honour we have to walk with God’s most valued thing - people.
Our mission is so clear: to be a resource for providing tools to individuals who have need (harbour), and a home for families to carry God’s love into every corner of our local neighbourhoods. We are also a hub of individual partners, friends, neighbours, organisations and more who long to make a difference in the lives of others. Even just to make the world a better place for one person at a time. We are a Holy Place, who is open Monday to Sunday for the community. The Ubomi Trust is an outward expression of this into the world, which makes it a precious gem in the life of our teams.
With all of this in mind, the idea of being a “hub” carries a special meaning for us and particularly for 2025. A hub is a central place where relationships are formed, spiritual growth can be championed and nurtured, and practical needs are addressed. We’d love to share some of our key initiatives that are making a difference already, and it’s only January.
1. The Ubomi Charitable Trust
The Ubomi Trust is a testament to God’s faithfulness. This community-based non-profit has been hand-crafted to be a vessel of overflow into our neighbouring communities and the world around us. We focus, via the Ubomi Trust, on resources that will strengthen and support vulnerable individuals and families in the most practical and impactful ways possible. It is the outreach arm of the Life Centre opening up avenues of much needed resources to flow.
We’ve been discussing what this might look like in the year to come, as it’s going through a little bit of a refresh and reawakening. This is a significant step forward in achieving the vision we carry, of seeing the life of Christ (healing, wholeness, belonging, love, community and Shalom peace) flow into communities. Through the vehicle of the Trust, we hope to build bridges of hope, restoration, and deep compassion, while making the sun shine a little brighter over the lives impacted.

2. Partnerships With U-turn And Our Community-Centric CHS Team
Our partnerships with organisations like U-turn and having a serious love and passion for building a real sense of Sawubona, and community in the broader CHS team, are what keeps everything moving forward in all diligence. The work our staff and team members put their hands to is remarkable - with Future Sparks, Job Journey, Community Lunches, Showers, Church of the Holy Spirit, Ground Zero Youth to name a few, it really is a big team carrying the overarching mission at the Life Centre.
These collaborations and connections allow us to extend our reach and address the unique challenges facing our community and surrounding areas too - Lakeside, Westlake, Muizenberg, Capricorn and beyond. The commitment to long-lasting relationships, community and change is evident.
3. Creating A Safe, Welcoming And Holy Space
At its core, the Life Centre is about creating a safe and Holy space for everyone who enters. We constantly see how people find the solace, encouragement, and strength they need to thrive.
This season, we are focused on increasing the capacity we have as a team to bless and support our surrounding neighborhoods - from a place of incredible overflow from God. We invite you to join hands with us in whatever makes sense for you, we have resident counsellors, OTs, tutors and other educational organisations. We host the creative industry of art, dancing and skill sharing. The Table Café still has the best coffee in the area, with a friendly team of inspiring staff members. A Bright Future! Seeing God’s Hand At Work
It’s been a humbling and inspiring journey for us to see how God uses ordinary people and resources to accomplish extraordinary things. The Life Centre is a tangible representation of God’s love in action. Our prayer is that this place will continue to be a source of hope and encouragement for years to come.
